It's official, the Indian smartphone market has a new number two player in Vivo. After Counterpoint Research, now the latest quarterly numbers from International Data Corp (IDC) too show Vivo as the second biggest player in the Indian smartphone market. As per IDC's ranking, Xiaomi leads the market in the fourth quarter of 2019, followed by Vivo, Samsung, Oppo and Realme in the same order.Counterpoint's ranking too ranks all five smartphone brands in the same order. As for the premium market, the midrange-premium segment is led by Vivo whereas the top-end premium segment is led by Apple, as per the report. The report further says that some of the key smartphone brands may move way from selling sub-Rs 5,000 smartphones.
